Say goodbye to Windows 7 and 8

Retail sales of Windows 7 and Windows 8 ended on Oct 31st 2014

On October 31st 2014 sales of Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate ended through the OEM licencing. It may be possible to purchase a PC with any of these preloaded but Microsoft is no longer issuing any more licences after October 31st.

Microsoft has extended the date that you can buy Windows 7 Professional by another year when itâ€™s pre-installed on a new PC.

Being able to buy box copies of Windows 8 ended on October 31st as well but some PC manufacturers will still provide this version. Typically new PCâ€™s will be supplied with Windows 8.1 as this has got the new performance and security features.
