Well kind of ...same features, different names

As part of the ongoing development of the Office 365 packages Microsoft have recently undergone a name change. This does make it slightly more confusing so its worth a look over the most popular packages and what they are now called.

Microsoft 365 Apps for Business

‘Office 365 Business’ is now ‘Microsoft 365 Apps for Business’ The basic package allowing installation of all the desktop applications and some cloud storage. Doesn’t include e-mail or Teams for collaboration.

Microsoft 365 Business Standards

‘Office 365 Business Premium’ is now ‘Microsoft 365 Business Standard’ The most popular package for small businesses that contains all the desktop applications like Word, Excel and Outlook as well as hosted e-mail on the Microsoft cloud. This also includes collaboration tools like Teams and Sharepoint.

Microsoft 365 Business Premium

New Package ‘Microsoft 365 Business Premium’ This is an expansion of the above package and includes all the online features plus it gives you additional data protection, an upgrade to Windows 10 Professional and also support for remote desktop connections.

Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise

‘Office 365 Pro Plus’ is now ‘Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise’ The entry level Enterprise package. Again, this gives the desktop applications but doesn’t allow hosted e-mail without another separate licence neither does it have the ability to use Teams or Sharepoint

Enterprise Editions

The names of the other Enterprise packages such as E1, E3 and E5 are unaffected and carry on as before.
