From the 5th January 2021, the country will start a new six-week lockdown. Over this period, Datcom will continue to provide the highest level of support and service to our clients, no matter whether you are working from home, in the office or on the road. Our Service Desk, and the business as a whole, will continue to operate through the normal channels and our support systems allow us to work remotely on 98% of requests logged with us. We ask that, where possible, all non-urgent requests should be logged via the Datcom Agent or email to support@datcom.co.uk and solutions@datcom.co.uk.All existing quotes, orders, installations and projects will continue as normal. As with the previous November 2020 lockdown, we are reducing on-site visits to essential visits only, and each new on-site request is being assessed on an individual basis by your Account Manager and the Service Delivery Manager. If you need any assistance with your IT systems and working from home, please contact your Account Manager. You may want to consider moving your telephone system over to Microsoft Teams Voice, which is something we did at Datcom over a year ago. We strongly recommend that organisations do this to facilitate better communication to your customers and clients while working at home and also to improve your business continuity plan.Longer-term virtual desktop infrastructure solutions might also be advisable, allowing you to access your data and apps from any location on any device; we can assist with designing, installing and managing solutions based on Microsoft Azure Windows Virtual Desktop, Microsoft RDS, VMware View and Citrix XenDesktop. If you are already an Office 365 or Google Workspaces customer now is the time to maximise your utlisation of the features on offer, reducing the requirement for on-premise equipment, such as servers, which something which Datcom can assist with.
